Biography
I have always had the ability to advocate a position, which naturally led me into litigation. Before working at BM&M, I worked approximately two years for a solo practitioner in Brevard County handling a wide variety of civil matters, including personal injury, worker’s compensation, consumer and business disputes, and family law. One of my favorite things about the practice of law is coming out on the right side of a hard-fought argument, where the opposing attorney has been equally well-prepared and professional. I also enjoy unraveling complex title claims, which is often akin to the process of solving a puzzle. There is great satisfaction in having a “lightbulb” moment when the correct path to resolution of the issue is discovered.
I am able to explain complex legal issues in a manner that is understandable. Through this skill, my clients are able to make more informed decisions and the Court is able to quickly discern the true issues in the case to make more just decisions. I am also very well prepared and very ethical. I have built very solid professional relationships with most attorneys with whom I have worked on a case, and these relationships have served me and my clients well when I have another case with the same attorney, as there is already an established foundation of respect.
I have two alternate career paths. Had I not been an attorney, I likely would have been an educator. I currently teach a night class in the paralegal program at Valencia Community College. However, in a dream world, I would have jumped on a sailing yacht and worked my way around the world fishing, diving, and exploring. My family and I lived on a sailboat for three years when I was a child. I enjoy all activities that involve the water. I have scubadived throughout Florida and the Bahamas. I have been a competitive canoe racer and avid airboater. I will travel just about anywhere at the drop of a hat if given the opportunity. I have two very active dogs, Phin McCool and Sailor Blue, who are a handful but a joy.
