Time for a Bit of Business Planning. And a Return to a Very Timely Topic.

Every now and again it is important for Florida businesses to take a moment and update their calendars for upcoming events. (Yet another ‘real world’ / ‘real time example’ of proactive risk management in-action, which is a running matter addressed throughout this entire series.) Here are two events to note.

Man planning his business in Gainesville

Here is the first:

Webinar Series: How to Contract with the Federal Government 1

GSA’s Office of Small Business Utilization will hold a series of webinars to help small business owners contract with the federal government.

Marketing Your GSA Contract | September 24, 1:00 pm ET
There are many opportunities available in the federal procurement market. Developing a federal marketing and sales strategy can help you achieve success in the federal sector. Register for this webinar to learn how to create an effective federal marketing plan with a targeted approach to government procurement. Register here.

And the second:

Not for a while, but National Apprenticeship Week will be from November 11 – 17, 2019. Here is information about National Apprenticeship Week.2

Something more: The U.S. Small Business Administration3 maintains a comprehensive digest of events and webinars pertinent to small businesses. Here is the link to the SBA’s list of upcoming events– it is well worth ‘bookmarking’ / ‘favoriting’ {is that even a real word?}.

Now to revisit a topic which is important to all Floridians this time of year. Hurricanes. Which has already received substantial coverage in this series due to recent weather events. 4

Above mention was made of events organized or promoted by the SBA. The SBA also offers current information, analyses, and tips during the 2019 hurricane season (that is June 1 – November 30, 2019 5). Please visit this link to follow the SBA’s insights. (And while you are there see the e-mail updates registration field at the top of the page.) And…use the ‘hashtag’ #BePrepared

And just one more thing. Autumn 2019 (or fall if preferred) begins Monday, September 23. 6 Time to bring out the pumpkin spice…
