Large, established Central Florida law firm Bogin, Munns & Munns seeks a full-time Paralegal for the firm’s Criminal & Traffic Defense Team. This team handles criminal & traffic cases in both State and Federal Court throughout Central Florida – including misdemeanors, felonies, criminal traffic, juvenile, and other related casework.
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, self-governing, reliable, professional and hardworking, as well as possess excellent communication skills, legal drafting skills, client management skills, and extensive knowledge of Florida’s Criminal Justice System and the applicable Rules of Criminal & Traffic Procedure.
Required: 3-5 years of prior experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant handling Criminal and Traffic cases is required. Candidates must have reliable transportation.
Preferred but not Required: Bi-lingual (English/Spanish), prior experience with sealing/expunging Criminal records, Registered and/or Certified Paralegals, and prior experience at a Florida law firm with cloud-based case management, including Filevine and/or Lead Docket.
Job responsibilities will include managing all aspects of the team’s practice, including:
- drafting discovery requests and pleadings;
- communicating with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, prosecutors and judicial assistants;
- scheduling hearings, depositions, meetings, and appointments;
- managing Attorney calendars and schedules;
- drafting and e-filing legal documents, including motions, notices and pleadings;
- managing deadlines;
- preparing hearing and trial materials;
- managing payment systems and Client fees;
- organizing & cataloguing discovery materials and other evidence.
The position will be primarily based out of the firm’s Downtown Orlando office near Lake Ivanhoe, but the potential for work at one of the firm’s many satellite offices and/or flexible remote work is also possible.
