I worked as of counsel to a Gainesville firm from 1983 to 1985. I then incorporated my own law firm where I worked for 30 years before becoming of counsel to Bogin, Munns and Munns, P.A.
I have a passion for justice and compassion for my clients. I care about my clients and want to help them determine the best choices for their objectives. I believe I have the ability to make that happen. I enjoy the challenge of finding solutions to peoples’ concerns. I want to help them achieve their objectives. I have a sense of wanting to see justice served and wanting to be a part of making that happen. I have a strong belief in our Constitution and feel an obligation to see people’s rights being protected.
Before I applied to law school, I looked into Rabbinical Schools and thought of becoming a Rabbi. I was a school teacher after I received my Bachelor’s degree and returned to graduate school to study educational counseling. While a graduate student in psychology, I had the opportunity to take the Strong Vocational Index Blank and the MMPI, the results of which indicated I should consider becoming a lawyer. I was accepted to law school, graduated and became a member of The Florida Bar. If I hadn’t, I probably would have continued to be an insurance and financial advisor, a practice I started when I moved back to Gainesville for graduate school.
I was a high school teacher for a couple of years and then served as a Cantor (Jewish Liturgical Leader) while I was in graduate school. I resigned when I started law school and then in 1983, after I passed The Florida Bar exam, I was asked by the congregation in Gainesville, of which I am a member, to serve them as their Cantor on the High Holy Days. Over the years that evolved into a year-round position. I served as the religious functionary when the Rabbi went on Sabbaticals (for 6 months at a time) or was out of town for any other reason and led religious services with the Rabbi when we were in town. After I left that position, I served in pulpits for High Holy Days in Florida and Australia. While I was in graduate school, I also became an insurance agent and later a Financial Consultant. I have two professional designations—Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant—the first earned before I started law school the latter the year after I started practicing. I worked for 43 years as an insurance and financial advisor and have provided expert witness testimony on life and disability insurance issues.
