Intellectual property is all around us, yet often people do not realize how much effort goes into the creation and protection of it. I enjoy getting to know my clients and learning how they developed their IP, which in turn helps me to determine the best way to maintain, protect, and grow their work.
After graduating law school, I served as an Assistant Public Defender for the Fifth Judicial Circuit. I enjoyed being
in the courtroom, but was ready to get back to my creative background. I made the move to an intellectual property firm, where I worked with individuals and multinational corporations alike to protect their intellectual property portfolios.
My biggest strength as an attorney is that I have represented parties on both sides of intellectual property disputes. I know how to protect intellectual property rights, and I know how to defend against alleged infringement. I also recognize that intellectual property is an invaluable asset, and I take the time necessary to understand my clients’ needs and to develop a cost-effective strategy to protect their assets.
Had I not chosen to practice law, I likely would have become a copywriter, editor, or travel writer. I enjoy traveling the world and distance running. I have run seven full marathons, dozens of half marathons, and am always planning my next race. I love spending time outdoors with my husband and son.
